The Ukraine conflict of 2039 became a proving ground for world powers and private enterprises alike, following President Sokol's call for aid. While USEC's mission in Ukraine was primarily focused on the extraction of Northern Petrol's management personnel, it is well documented that small groups of USEC operators deviated from their mission to assist the Ukrainian military in pushing back Russian sponsored separatist militias from high value areas in country. Steel plants, oil refineries and laboratories were repeatedly targeted by the RF backed forces. Seeing an opportunity to bring in more clientele and funding, USEC's Special Projects Group was tasked with providing protection and operational support for the AFU's defensive war.
