uh oh, the trauma is starting to catch up!

Did you know that nostalgia used to be considered PTSD adjacent by psychologists? It was allegedly the opposite side of the PTSD coin, a recurring fixation and replaying of good events instead of traumatic ones. In my opinion, this is absolutely the case. Being stuck in the past, regardless of what kind of past it is, is dangerous.

I bring this up because Sam here is going to process her trauma through destructive and dangerous means.

When I wrote these characters, I took the parts of my own psyche that I was uncomfortable with -Sam's fixation on the past and Arthur's tendency to live his life for others being the most blatant examples. I didn't ever want to write action heroes, I wanted to write people with flaws and problems. I hope I'm doing that lol.
